Issue Position: Eliminate Fraud, Waste and Inefficiency in State Government

Issue Position

Government has the natural tendency to grow and expand, mostly because bureaucrats feel compelled to do more, spend more and generally interfere more. As a small-government conservative, Glenn has spent most of his adult life working to restrict government growth. He is especially proud of his four years in leadership of the state's Sunset Commission, which identifies and eliminates waste, duplication and inefficiency in state government agencies. In that capacity, Glenn played a role in shuttering six agencies, saving taxpayers more than $160 million. He will carry that same bias for limited government into the Comptroller's office.

As the "chief financial officer" of Texas, he will work to make government more efficient for taxpayers by improving agency operations, abolishing outdated programs, and identifying cost saving opportunities. Glenn is committed to making the Comptroller's office the model for ALL state agencies when it comes to streamlining processes, integrating resources and eliminating redundancy.
