Issue Position: Gogebic Taconite Mine

Issue Position

In February 2013 the State Assembly along with the State Senate passed legislation for the application, regulation and oversite of applicants who are interested in Taconite Mining. I voted for this legilation, and believe that is is environmentally safe. The mine if built has the potential to bring Wisconsinites 3,175 jobs each year for two years. This mine will also bring a total of $20.6 million dollars in state and local tax revenue. This mine will make a 2 billion dollar total economic impact on Wisconsin.
