CONTROL SPENDING AND LOWER TAXES

It is important to balance our budgets in a responsible manner and minimize the tax burden on our citizens. Our legislative leaders must be responsible with taxpayer dollars. Reducing the tax burden on citizens will create a better economic environment, which will result in more job opportunities.

Accomplishments:
Implemented tax reform in the 2013 legislative session, which simplified the tax code and lowered taxes on all citizens. According to the Tax Foundation, North Carolina now has one of the best tax climates in the nation.
Balanced the 2013 state budget while funding core services of government, reducing excessive spending, and lowering the tax burden on citizens.

Further Solutions:
Implement zero-based budgeting.
Enact spending caps legislation to limit the increase of state spending to the rate of population growth and inflation.
Require a three-fifths vote in the NC House and Senate to raise taxes.
