Issue Position: Jobs

Issue Position

Ok so the government gets more money if Alabama gets more jobs so why isn't our area covered up with help wanted posters? I don't know. From the city councils to the US Senators, every elected official should be on a weekly conference call seeking to create new jobs in our district. As a realtor I have had the opportunity to meet with families throughout the district who are selling their homes. Some are moving just around the corner, upgrading or downsizing. Some people move to the district because of the community values or to get away from the big areas. But over the last few years there have been a lot of people who couldn't afford their home anymore. I've also had to help those who were upside down, or whose retirement was cut because their home just wasn't worth what it was before. Second only to holding the line on our values, there is nothing more important than creating jobs in our district. We need vocational education, because every child isn't going to be a brain surgeon. We need a set schedule of meetings and leadership teams to work together with local chambers and small business owners to help them expand. We need to cut the red tape and be sure government officials are easily accessible to business owners. Opportunities like Honda are great, but we need to be working top to bottom to create jobs in our district. With more jobs, unemployment drops, wages go up, property values go up, government gets more money; it really is a win - win for everyone. Together we can create an economic leadership team and make this a reality for our district.
