The 2011 legislative session will be a historic success for fiscal conservatism: North Carolina will have a balanced budget and it will not be balanced on the backs of the taxpayers as in years past.
We're facing a $2.5 billion budget deficit. The government can and should do what all of you have had to do during these tough economic times: tighten our belt and make smart and necessary cuts.
Families and small business owners who operate on budgets understand this: we have to live within our means. This is the year North Carolina starts doing that.
