Team Mitch at Fancy Farm: "Sound Familiar"

Team Mitch today released the following transcript of Sen. McConnell's speech at the annual Fancy Farm Picnic:

"Great to be back at Fancy Farm!

"Great to see my colleagues Senator Paul and Congressman Whitfield. Commissioner Comer and all the officials on stage I'm glad to be here with you.

"For you out of towners, this is the place where Republicans tell it like it is, Jack Conway curses, Governor Beshear yammers on about Obamacare, and Alison Lundergan Grimes unveils her foreign policy agenda.

"Fancy Farm is a time for fun but these are serious times.

"There are problems everywhere and the President acts like he's trying out for the PGA tour.

"Obama wouldn't even go down to the border to see the immigration crisis for himself. He said he doesn't like photo ops. Since when?

"He's taken more selfies than Flat Stanley.

"I'll give my opponent credit. She knows Barack Obama can't be counted on to do anything about the crisis on the border. So this week she came up with her own plan to keep folks from streaming into the country illegally. Missile defense.

"The reality is that the Obama Administration and their liberal allies are making America weaker at home and abroad.

"Barack Obama has been a disaster.

"I guess that's what we get for electing someone with no experience.

"He was only two years into his first big job when he started campaigning for the next one.

"Sound familiar?

"Remember, his campaign raised millions from extreme liberals.

"Sound familiar?

"I mean, he really didn't have any qualifications.

"Sound familiar?

"Every time his inexperience became obvious, old Bill Clinton would show up to distract us.

"Sound familiar?

"Well lesson learned.

"We'll never make that mistake again.

"Now is a time for leadership.

"Here in Kentucky we need leadership that understands a donut burger isn't a reason to ruin our health care system.

"And with so much turmoil around the world, we can't afford a leader who thinks the West Bank is a Hollywood fundraiser.

"You see, Kentucky is under attack from Barack Obama's Administration and we need to fight back.

"Barack Obama only needs one thing to keep his grip on power.

"He needs to keep the U.S. Senate.

"That's why all these people from the New York Times are out here in Western Kentucky.

"For Obama and his liberal buddies in the media, coming to Kentucky is like foreign travel.

"They can't tell the difference between a coal miner and a European male model.

"But they think they know what's best for us.

"And they know as long as they can hold the Senate with their Kentucky candidate, they can do anything they want.

"They make fun of us at cocktail parties. They say we're bitter country folks who cling to our guns and religion.

"Well, I've had just about enough of that. How about you?

"We're not going to take it anymore.

"We know what Obama needs to wage his war on coal.

"And we know what we need to do to stop him.

"They know what they need to force Obamacare on us.

"And we know what we need to do to repeal it

"They know what they need to continue mocking our values.

"And we're going to tell them our convictions aren't set aside just for Sunday's and Holidays.

"We hold our values every day!

"Yes, it's time my friends. It's time to rise up and fight back.

"We've got people who are hurting and we're going to help.

"The only way to begin to change America in 2014 is to change the Senate.

"Send this proud Kentuckian to lead a new Senate and we'll take our country back!

"With your help, Kentucky will lead America!"
