Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) issued the following statement after voting to send House legislation to extend the Highway Trust Fund back to the Senate.
"I am frustrated by Congress's continued inability to agree on a long-term solution for the Highway Trust Fund, but states should not suffer because of our inaction. This legislation is the surest way to keep these much-needed payments flowing to projects in New Mexico that create jobs and improve our infrastructure."
According to the Center for American Progress, New Mexico would lose more than $128 million and more than 1,600 jobs if the shortfall in the fund is not resolved.
