Week in Review: Braley Travels State to Share His Plans to Put Iowa Families First

This week saw Bruce Braley travel across the state, from Council Bluffs to Davenport, to share with Iowans his vision to move the state forward and put Iowa families first.

Bruce started out his week in Council Bluffs, thanking volunteers and pushing for an increase to the minimum wage that would provide 300,000 Iowans with a raise:

COUNCIL BLUFFS NONPAREIL: Braley Supports Federal Wage Hike "It's time to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10, said Bruce Braley, Iowa's Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate. "It would give 300,000 Iowans a pay raise," he said Monday during a Council Bluffs stop. On other issues, he opposes privatizing Social Security, calling it a "retirement investment for those on Wall Street," and would fight any effort to repeal wind energy tax credits. On Tuesday, Bruce headed to Merrill and Mason City to highlight the importance of protecting the job-creating Renewable Fuel Standard and to promote the importance of early voting.

MASON CITY GLOBE GAZETTE: Braley Rallies Campaign Volunteers in Mason City "U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley thanked North Iowa volunteers Tuesday for their hard work on his Senate campaign and asked for more. "We need you," he said during a stop at the Iowa Democratic campaign office in Mason City, where a volunteer phone bank is located. "We need more from you." He encouraged volunteers to keep making phone calls and to put bumper stickers on their cars and yard signs on their lawns for him and other Democratic candidates. The following day, Bruce made stops at the Blue Strawberry in Cedar Rapids and the Hamburg Inn No. 2 in Iowa City, where he talked with Iowans about the issues that matter to them--from growing the economy and creating jobs, to raising the minimum wage, to protecting retirement security and maintaining access to a quality and affordable education--and his plans to fight for working families in the U.S. Senate.

On Thursday, Bruce was joined by Tom Harking and a special guest--his mother, Marcia Braley--to highlight the clear choice on in the U.S. Senate race on retirement security during "Pie Day" at the South Side Senior Center in Des Moines. Bruce Braley, who has earned the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare and the Alliance for Retired Americans, has worked to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
