Young: Seniors Deserve Higher-Quality Care

Press Release

Date: Sept. 30, 2014
Location: Des Moines, IA

David Young today vowed to press for better Medicare provider payments in Iowa, which still lag behind the rest of the country and are worsened by ObamaCare. Further, Young believes the $716 billion in Obamacare cuts to Medicare reimbursement were a terrible mistake and if elected, would fight to restore funding for Iowa's seniors.

The president's administration (CMS Actuary) concedes that a significant percentage of hospitals would be unable to continue their services to Medicare beneficiaries under ObamaCare's cuts to Medicare. Shockingly, Young's opponent, former state Sen. Staci Appel supports the Pelosi-passed Obamacare, which includes these harmful and dangerous cuts. In her recent debate on Iowa Public Television, Appel reiterated her stance by saying, "what we shouldn't be doing is repealing it."

"Access to care for Iowa's seniors has long been jeopardized by low provider reimbursement rates, and the President's health care overhaul, which my opponent supports, only makes this worse." said Young. "Iowa has long been lagging in provider payments, and that's unacceptable. If we want better care for our seniors, we've got to pay for it."

Young launched a district-wide tour with Senator Charles Grassley this morning, where the pair is sharing their commitment to Iowa's seniors with residents of the 3rd Congressional District.
