Governor Hassan Statement on Marriage Equality

After the United States Supreme Court denied review in all five pending marriage equality cases, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:

"The Supreme Court's decision not to review any of the pending marriage equality cases is good news for the people of Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin, where all loving couples will receive the same fair and equal treatment that they deserve. Marriage equality strengthens our families, our communities and our economy, and I join the people of these states and marriage equality advocates everywhere in celebrating another important step in advancing the cause of equality.

"I believe strongly in the rights of all citizens to participate fully in the civic and economic life of our communities, which is why I fought so hard to bring marriage equality to our state, and I am delighted that five more states now have it too."
