Iowa Congressman David Young on the President's Budget

Press Release

Date: Feb. 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Iowa Congressman David Young released the following statement regarding President Obama's Fiscal Year 2016 Budget proposal, which raises taxes, increases spending, allows interest rates to more than triple and adds $8.5 trillion to the national debt.

"The people of Iowa's Third District elected me to bring common sense to Washington. The President's budget lacks common sense because it favors growing Washington over promoting economic opportunities for hardworking Americans.

"This budget never balances and it uses the same failed Washington top-down approach that has been tried many times before. It is a plan from the past, not a serious plan for America's future."

"Hardworking Americans want to keep more of their pay check and they want a government that is fiscally responsible. Iowans from all walks of life work together each and every day. Washington and this President should follow our state's example to meet this challenge."

"The Republican Majority in the House will offer a common sense budget that addresses Washington's spending problem, balances the budget and empowers all Americans to seek new opportunities and achieve a better life."
