Rokita Demands Timely Action on President's Illegal Immigration Orders

Press Release

Date: Jan. 9, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

Yesterday U.S. Representative Todd Rokita (IN-04) sent a letter to House Leadership requesting immediate action to block President Obama's illegal executive orders, which grant amnesty to five million illegal immigrants.

"Instead of building bridges with the new Congress and partnering on bipartisan solutions, President Obama has chosen to govern by executive fiat, doubling down on his radical, liberal agenda. I have endlessly opposed this administration's attempts to skirt the Constitution and ignore the checks and balances designed by our Founding Fathers. By acting early in this new Congress, we can put a stop to this abuse of power," said Rep. Rokita.

Rep. Rokita, along with 56 of his colleagues, sent a letter asking for immediate legislative remedies to President Obama's actions. Soon after sending the letter, House Leadership announced funding legislation will be introduced next week with the goal of denying funds for the President's unlawful actions. In December, Congress only authorized funding for Department of Homeland Security programs and functions through February 27, 2015.
