Issue Position: Sanctity of Life

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2015

As a conservative, pro-life Texan, Lois has a fundamental respect for human life, from conception until natural death. During her time in the Legislature, she has worked to defund Planned Parenthood, and put an end to late term abortion in our state. Lois was proud to use her role as Chair of the Public Health Committee to support the pro-life bills that focused so much attention on Texas. Conservatives stood united to defeat Wendy Davis and the liberal Austin mob. She has fought time and time again for the pro-life moment, on the front line and in the trenches. For example, last session Lois made sure every pro-life voice was heard during the debate over SB 303, which resulted in the defeat of a controversial proposal to deprive families the right to demand care for their loved ones. Lois sponsored legislation (SB 73 81R) to guide Texas away from the practice of embryonic stem cell research, instead enabling an adult stem cell research program. To protect the rights of the unborn, Lois voted to require Texans considering an abortion to review an ultrasound of their unborn child, and she worked to prohibit state dollars from finding their way to facilities that perform abortions. Consistently "A-rated" by Texas Right to Life and other major pro-life groups, Lois is a proud Christian who is always willing to do her part to fight the culture of death that threatens Texas and the nation.
