During Nathaniel's tenure as mayor, Rainsville witnessed hundreds of new jobs created through plants like Emerson Electric and RTI, a major Honda supplier. If elected, he plans to use the same conservative principles and pro-business approaches that recruited those jobs to help get our state's economy booming again.
Nathaniel also worked on an idea to develop a mega-industrial site. After working on the idea for a few years, he was able to locate a perfect location, a 600 acre site behind Northeast Alabama Community College. He was able to incorporate both Jackson and DeKalb economic authorities to get on board. After negotiating with the land owner, Nathaniel secured right of first refusal, which enables them to tie the 600 acres up at no cost, and help in writing the legislation that created what is now the Jackson and DeKalb Economic Authority and is shovel ready for IT jobs as well as clean industrial growth. Locating this size of property with the right infrastructure can help this area tremendously.
He helped initiate the first ever Made in DeKalb Expo.
The Made in DeKalb initiative was established in 2012 for the three-fold purpose of:
1) Recognizing all the great products that are made in DeKalb County,
2) Connecting DeKalb County companies for the purpose of establishing new business-to-business relationships, and
3) Promoting manufacturing and careers in manufacturing to the public, including high school students.
