The people that dedicate their lives to Protect & Serve deserve our best efforts. As a retired Fire Chief, I can tell you from firsthand experience that the State of Mississippi first responders are not properly equipped to handle the unexpected. This is why we need to place a stronger emphasis on providing the needed assets, training, education, and tools for first responders to use in case of emergency situations.

1. Let's make sure that training is readily available and encouraged at the city, county, and state levels. The latest techniques and technology can help reduce injury and property damage -- but only when it's taught to our first responders properly.
2. Support funding and private grant programs that will provide our first responders with state-of-the-art equipment that will allow them to protect our citizens and property quicker, much more efficiently, and safer.
