Our tax system should be fair and predictable. Today, the tax code is filled with loopholes, targeted tax breaks, and exceptions for special interests. The result is that very few Americans understand how the system operates.
In addition, American corporations are taxed at a much higher rate than corporations in other developed countries. This encourages American companies to move jobs overseas and discourages investment here at home.
As a Representative, I support reforms that lower personal and corporate tax rates, simplify the system, and broaden the tax base. I also am open to proposals that tax spending instead of income as a substitute to our current system.
