Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld federal tax credits available through the Affordable Care Act.

"Today, the Supreme Court recognized the value of the Affordable Care Act and the millions of people it supports. More than 16 million Americans have gained health care coverage because of this important law. Thousands with pre-existing conditions have been able to purchase affordable health plans and thousands more have been able to receive treatment without being overcome with debt. Upholding the federal subsidies ensures that more people across the country will continue to access this life-saving care. Access to affordable health care is a mark of a strong economy and a vibrant democracy. I applaud the court's decision and look forward to continuing to work to expand access and affordability for all."
