Fleming Votes "No" on Bill to Fund President's Amnesty

Statement

Date: March 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Fleming, M.D., issued the following statement after voting against the Senate amendment to H.R. 240, a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through September 30, 2015:

"Today we voted on a bill that fully funds the President's Executive Memos granting work permits and Social Security cards to illegal immigrants. I strongly opposed this bill because it condones unlawful, unconstitutional behavior by President Obama and sends the message that our borders and social welfare programs are open to all comers.

I will continue to oppose amnesty. The people of Louisiana have made it clear they want executive amnesty defunded. Congress must defend the Constitution. We cannot wait for the courts on such a crucial issue."
