U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA), praised the Senate's passage of S. 1443, a bill to amend the Indian Employment, Training and Related Services Demonstration Act. The bill will facilitate the ability of Indian tribes to integrate employment, training, and related services from diverse federal sources.

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) introduced S. 1443. The SCIA unanimously approved this bill on Oct. 21, 2015. The bill will now go to the House of Representatives for consideration.

"Unemployment is disproportionately high in tribal communities," said Chairman Barrasso. "The Senate passed a bill that will empower tribes to expand employment and training programs. I want to thank Senator Murkowski for championing this common sense legislation that will have an immediate impact. I urge the House of Representatives to take this bill up and pass it soon."
