Crapo, Risch Statement on Bart Davis Nomination

Following today's announcement that the White House intends to nominate Bart M. Davis, Majority Leader of the Idaho State Senate to be United States Attorney for the District of Idaho, Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch made the following statements:
"With his extensive combination of leadership, legal scholarship and service, Bart embodies the sound legal judgement required to uphold the law while fairly and aggressively prosecuting those charged with crimes," said Crapo, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee which has jurisdiction over Davis' nomination. "A graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law, Bart has demonstrated his legal scholarship in his writings and through his service as a member of Idaho's State Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee. Bart has also built and maintained a long and distinguished legal career as an attorney in private practice. Further, Bart has an established history of serving Idaho and the nation's legal community through the Uniform Law Commission, and also in his service on the Council of State Governments, his work with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, and the Idaho Judicial Conference. I am committed to working with my Senate colleagues to move this nomination through the Judiciary Committee and to the full Senate. I congratulate Bart on his nomination to serve as Idaho's U.S. Attorney."
"I want to congratulate Bart Davis on his nomination to become Idaho's next U.S. Attorney" said Risch. "Senator Davis is a committed public servant who has my full confidence. I will work with my colleagues in the U.S. Senate to have his nomination confirmed as expeditiously as possible."
Davis has represented the 33rd District in the Idaho State Senate for the past 19 years, including as Majority Leader for 15 years. In addition to his Senate service, Mr. Davis is currently in private practice in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he focuses on commercial, regulatory, and transactional work. He is currently a commissioner to the Uniform Law Commission and a past chairman of The Council of State Governments. Davis is a graduate of Brigham Young University and from the University of Idaho College of Law
