Statement

Date: June 23, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chairwoman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights, issued the statement below following the House Judiciary Committee's passage of the Merger Filing Fee Modernization Act:

"This mark-up continues to show important progress as we further our efforts to fund the antitrust enforcement agencies and update our competition laws. I'm pleased that the Committee voted to pass the Merger Filing Fee Modernization Act, the House version of my bipartisan bill to update merger filing fees and authorize much needed resources for the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. We have a monopoly problem in America, including in Big Tech, and reining it in is going to require action from the House and the Senate. I look forward to working with my colleagues in both chambers to get it done."
