Hoyer Statement on Rosh Hashanah

Statement

Date: Sept. 6, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement on Rosh Hashanah, which begins tonight at sundown:

"I join in wishing a sweet and happy new year to all those celebrating Rosh Hashanah. The past year has been one of enormous challenge but also tremendous hope, reminders of the power of renewal and rebirth - from the strong reaffirmation of electoral democracy in both the United States and Israel to the rapid deployment of the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines and the ongoing recovery of our economy. As many families and communities gather in person for the holiday this year, I am hopeful that 5782 will continue to bring progress toward a safer, healthier, and freer world. To all those observing Rosh Hashanah in our Armed Forces across the world, I send with enormous gratitude a very meaningful wish for a 'Shana Tova U'Metuka.' May the blessings of peace and freedom, safety and good health be bestowed upon all who are celebrating the arrival of the Jewish New Year, on our ally the State of Israel, and on the United States of America."
