Appropriations Committee Republicans Pass Financial Services Bill that Benefits Scammers, Fraudsters, and Cheaters

Press Release

Date: July 13, 2023
Location: Washington, D.C.

"Cutting FSGG funding by an extreme 58%, this bill has severe consequences for our country and its people. It deprives crucial agencies of the funding they need to enforce the law and serve the American people. That includes the Security and Exchange Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Election Assistance Commission, and many other federal agencies. Additionally, by defunding the IRS' enforcement capabilities, this legislation adds billions to the deficit and makes it easier for high earners and corporations to avoid paying their fair share. As my colleagues across the aisle try to renege on our compromise agreement to meet the demands of extreme MAGA Republicans demands, I will continue to work with Ranking Member DeLauro and the rest of the Democrats on the Appropriations Committee to keep our government funded and functioning properly For The People."
