LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON VETERANS DAY

Statement

Date: Nov. 11, 2023
Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Issues: Veterans

"As Americans, there is no higher responsibility nor a greater moral obligation than to be there for the people who have been there for our country. Each year on Veterans Day, our nation comes together to thank and honor those who have served and defended our freedom, in addition to recommitting ourselves to protecting those who have protected us.

Last year, under the leadership of President Biden, House Democrats delivered the most significant expansion of benefits for veterans and survivors in more than 30 years by passing the bipartisan PACT Act. The law enables the VA to expand health care and benefits for more than five million veterans who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other toxic substances while serving our nation.

Though this historic legislation is now the law of the land, our work is far from done. House Democrats will continue to defend those who have served from any and all attempts to cut veterans' services. We must ensure that no veteran is left behind, because every day is Veterans Day."
