9 Days to Shutdown, 2 More Failed Funding Bills, Another Week in House Republican Chaos

"As I have said repeatedly, Republicans' partisan Financial Services and General Government funding bill has no chance of becoming law. Predictably, they cannot even build enough consensus within their own party to pass it through the House. The Majority has wasted precious time with this radical bill that cuts crucial agencies responsible for enforcing the law and protecting the welfare of everyday Americans. This bill undermines the IRS' ability to go after tax cheats and lawbreakers while leaving American taxpayers to pick up the cost and weakens our government's ability to lower the deficit. Because of wasted time on this failed bill, we are even closer to a shutdown. This proposed legislation did not honor the bipartisan law we came to this summer to raise the debt ceiling and fund the government. It did nothing to help the American people. Americans don't want these Republican distractions; they want their Congress to work together to deliver results."
