Hatch on House Vote Repealing Obamacare; Urges Senate Action

Statement

U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), the incoming Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement today on the House of Representatives vote to repeal the budget-busting $2.6 trillion health spending law:

"Most Utahns and Americans remain strongly opposed to ObamaCare. This budget-busting $2.6 trillion government takeover of our nation's healthcare system infringes on people's liberty, expands government to record levels, and raises taxes on hard-working Americans - all while doing nothing to stop skyrocketing health costs. The White House and its Capitol Hill allies used every trick and budget gimmick in the book to force it through and onto the American people. It's now time to dismantle it.

"House Republicans have listened to the American people by acting to repeal this law. The question is whether the White House and its allies in the Senate will follow suit and support similar legislation that responds to the will of the people.

"I not only support a full repeal, but also a targeted approach that takes down the pillars holding up ObamaCare. I've introduced legislation taking aim at the unconstitutional individual mandate and the job-killing employer mandate. I'm confident that my legislation will garner increased bipartisan support this Congress."

NOTE: Last Congress, Hatch introduced the American Liberty Restoration Act to repeal the unconstitutional individual mandate forcing people to purchase health insurance even if they don't want it, and the American Job Protection Act that repeals the job-killing employer mandate that has forced employers to cut back on health care for their employees, because of increased health costs.
