Barrasso Statement on August Obamacare Waivers

Statement

Date: Aug. 19, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement regarding the Administration's decision to grant 106 new 3-year waivers from the President's health care law to 105,783 people. The Administration has now granted waivers to over 3.4 million people. 65.3 percent of the newly issued waivers went to union members.

"Each round of waivers leaves Americans wondering 'why not me?'

"If unions and corporations get a free pass from the President's health care law, all Americans deserve the same opportunity. Especially since federal courts across the country continue to rule that this law is unconstitutional.

"I recently introduced legislation that will allow all Americans to apply for and receive a health care waiver. My bill is based on the Administration's own criteria: if your costs go up, you get out.

"Premiums have risen 19 percent since President Obama took office. His new health care law is only making costs increase and care decrease. All Americans deserve out from this bad law."
