Barrasso: GAO Report Confirms Healthcare.Gov Remains a Headache

Press Release

Date: Sept. 16, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso released the following statement in response to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that confirms Healthcare.gov contains security and privacy weaknesses that place consumer information at risk:

"This new GAO report makes it clear that even almost a year later; Healthcare.gov remains a painful headache for millions of Americans. We knew that the website was not properly tested prior to its launch last year. Now we know that it has still not been properly tested and that there are still serious problems with the administration's management of the website. After more than four years and spending nearly one billion dollars on this troubled website, Americans still remain at risk for loss of sensitive, personal information.

"Instead of forcing Americans to use a risky site to buy unaffordable insurance, it's time to start over. We need to repeal the law and replace it with reform that expands choice and lowers the cost of care for Americans."
